Demarcated in 1908, the Vinho Verde wine region is one of the largest demarcated areas in Europe, Controlled Designation of Origin (DOC), due to the production of light and very refreshing white wines, which you can’t find anywhere else in the world.
With an Atlantic influence, mild temperatures and a soil that is markedly granitic and locally schist, these “verde” wines deserve a prolonged visit, due to their importance and geographic specificity. And it will be!
This genre, originating in the Minho region, between the Minho and Douro rivers, is an inspiration for Portuguese artists, making the region known as “the gardens of Portugal”, due to its exuberant landscapes and excellent conditions for the production of white wines, sparkling wines and even spirits.
On this route, you will also be able to enjoy magnificent experiences, while getting to know two species of Portuguese animal breeds – the Miranda donkey and the Lusitanian mare, along a route that promises to seduce both in terms of flavours and smells, as well as colours, sounds and sensations.
To complete the tour, we invite you to visit Guimarães, birthplace of the nation. A medieval city, whose granite walls and countless historic buildings contain legends that tell a part of Portugal’s history – the origin of our people!
