City of Porto
9:00 am – pick-up at the hotel and departure to Vila Real
7:00 pm – drop-off at your hotel in Porto
The tour starts in Vila Real, the city where the stunning Palácio de Mateus (Mateus Palace) is located. This is, in fact, the ideal starting point to discover one of the most unique regions in the world. We suggest continuing along N323 road to the old town of Pinhão. Along the way, stop at one of the Douro viewpoints and enjoy the magnitude of the landscape – Vale do Pinhão viewpoint | S. Cristóvão do Douro viewpoint.
The first of four unforgettable experiences follows. Described as the jewel of the Douro, Quinta da Roêda, belonging to the distinguished Port wine house – Croft – is the first stop. The invitation is to take a tour, followed by a wine tasting. And because it’s been a long morning already, we say goodbye to Roêda and head to one of the most charming hotels in the region – the Vintage House Hotel. This is where the second memorable experience of the day takes place. The hotel’s restaurant – Rebelo – hosts a traditional lunch created by Chef João Santos.
After a sumptuous lunch, a visit to a second farm in the Douro region follows – Quinta do Panascal – where the third experience of the tour takes place. Dubbed by James Suckling as the most important property of the prestigious Fonseca house, Quinta do Panascal will surprise you with a truly unique visit and Port wine tasting.
And we saved a very special surprise for last. The fourth experience of the day comes from the river – watching the sunset on the Douro aboard the Hank sailboat with a glass of port in hand. After a long day in the Douro Valley, there’s nothing better than relaxing on the waters of the river and enjoying the absolutely incredible scenery.
