The stunning capital of Portugal is a city that easily blends traditional and historical heritage with an impressive modern vibe and progressive thinking. As a destination, Lisbon offers a rich and diverse history, alongside a vibrant and cosmopolitan social life.
Lisbon is trending and it’s not hard to understand why. It’s so easy to fall in love with the city. Its light, the exuberance of its historical monuments associated with the Discoveries, the traditional atmosphere of its famous districts – Alfama, Graça, Mouraria or Bairro Alto –, the museums, the numerous viewpoints… There are so many reasons to visit that it’s difficult to list them all. But we’ll try.
This tour allows you to get to know the city a little bit better and we’re certain it will awaken your curiosity to book a longer visit in the future. During the day we will take you through the capital of Portugal, where you will visit the Castelo de São Jorge (Castle of S. Jorge) and Alfama, the roots of Lisbon. But also other monuments that witnessed heroic Portuguese deeds, the same ones that allowed the maritime expansion in the 15th and 16th centuries. And it was precisely these achievements that propelled the construction of great monuments in Lisbon, especially in the Belém area. In this area you’ll find monuments with a unique Portuguese architectural style – Manueline – worthy of a visit!
Throughout the day you can also visit the city’s traditional shopping area, with buildings dating back to the 18th century – Baixa and Chiado. There you will see that it is impossible to remain indifferent to the city. For this full-day tour of Lisbon, we also suggest a more detailed visit of the city, where other museums and monuments or simply extra time for shopping can be included.
These are our suggestions:
– Lisbon’s Oceanarium (the largest in Europe with species from all over the world)
– Parque das Nações (leisure area by the river)
– Shopping (shopping centres – the biggest shopping centre in Europe, for example, or traditional shopping areas)
– Monastery of São Vicente de Fora (the largest church in Lisbon and the monastery’s beautiful cloisters)
– Palácio Nacional da Ajuda (Ajuda National Palace, once the official residence of the Royal Family)
– Calouste Gulbenkian Museum (one of the most famous museums in Portugal)
– National Museum of Ancient Art (for lovers of ancient art)
– National Coach Museum (the best and most complete collection of coaches in the world)
– National Tile Museum (a living tradition!)
Or any other place or monument you may be interested in.
