Located in the province of A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela is the capital city of the autonomous community of Galicia. This city is internationally recognized as one of the greatest destinations of Christian pilgrimage in the world, founded in the 17th century. It is characterized by its historic center, built around the famous Cathedral where according to tradition lies the tomb of Santiago Maior, an apostle of Jesus Christ and Saint Protector of Spain. It is a city that imbues history from each of its stones, surrounded by a fantastic natural landscape. Nevertheless is has not frozen in time, because Santiago de Compostela is also one of the main academic destinations in the world and its University attracts countless young people from all over the world every year. Because of this, the city offers a unique and very appealing dynamic, inviting the visitor to adventure across its hidden corners, traditional grocery stores and markets, squares and monuments, in an environment that is as much historical and cultural as it is jovial and lively.
